He Who has an Ear

The one who oft His voice would hear

Ought tune and hone and train his ear

And know that oft His voice is drowned

By ev'ry-day dull, droning sounds

Or life's demands and loud refrains

Or empty noise that entertains

Or merchant's pleas or siren's songs.

And yet His voice speaks all day long

His Spirit beckoning those to hear 

Who'd simply have a hearing ear
